FREE PRESENTATION SERIES

Since 2014, March has been officially declared as National Problem Gambling Awareness Month.

Every Friday of the month, the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey will host 1-hour virtual presentations that expand on various topics related to problem gambling.

All conducted presentations grant ONE (1) Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit.

Gambling Recovery Resources: New Tools For the Tool Box

Today’s recovery toolbox is bigger than ever! Due to its size, some tools may be overlooked or dismissed. This presentation from Prevention Specialist Jeanne Swain and Treatment Coordinator Leonard Brazer will highlight innovative recovery resources that go beyond therapy and GA meetings. Digital platforms, online communities, and financial tools are among the discussion points. Participants will gain insight on how these supports can complement traditional recovery paths and promote long-term stability

Gamblers Anonymous vs. Alcoholics Anonymous

The main thrust of the presentation will be the similarities and differences between the two fellowships. We will focus on the main principles of the programs and how they were established. It is said that 60% of the similarities in treatment and recovery between gambling disorders and alcohol use disorders are clear. However, 40% that are not are drastic and dramatically different. The presentation that will be given by Prevention Specialist Joseph Kane and Treatment Coordinator Leonard Brazer will identify the similarities and differences between the disorders as well as exploring the vast differences in recovery paths. There will be particular emphasis on the divergencies between Gamblers Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous regarding recovery.
