Sgt. Jeff Stewart is a 24-year veteran of the Garfield, NJ Police Department, currently serving as Commander of the Community Affairs Division. With a career-long passion for bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community, Jeff plays a critical role in fostering positive engagement and promoting diversity. He is dedicated to helping law enforcement officers and community members better understand each other and work together to build stronger, more cohesive communities. His expertise in collaborative policing has earned him a national reputation as a subject matter expert, allowing him to teach both in-service law enforcement professionals and criminal justice students at top universities across the country, as well as work with individuals returning to society after incarceration and general community members.
 
As Vice President of the NJ State Community Affairs Officers Association and a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Community Policing Committee, Jeff helps shape the future of community policing on a national level. His commitment to improving lives extends beyond law enforcement. He is proud to serve as Vice President of the Board of Directors for 1-800-Gambler, where he brings a unique perspective to the fight against problem gambling. In this role, Jeff leverages his law enforcement background to foster collaboration between law enforcement agencies, communities, courts, and organizations dedicated to supporting individuals affected by gambling disorder.
