Dan Heneghan spent the first half of his career as a journalist covering gaming and the second half as a state gaming regulator. He won over a dozen awards for his reporting for the Press of Atlantic City and other publications, and a citation from the CCGNJ for raising problem gambling awareness. As the Director of Communications for the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, he helped establish and promote the state’s Self-Exclusion program. In 2012, prior to joining the council’s board, he was selected as CCGNJ’s Person of the Year – just a few months after receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in Gaming Communications from the American Gaming Association. He now does freelance writing and consulting.
