Dr. Andes is an Associate Professor of Sociology at New Jersey City University where he developed the Concentration in Alcohol and Drug Studies. This concentration satisfies the academic requirement for the New Jersey Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) credential. He is one of the authors for the following treatment manuals published by the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration, United States Department of Health & Human Services: (1) Intensive Outpatient Treatment for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse; and (2) Family Therapy and Substance Abuse. He developed grant-funded projects on substance abuse treatment and prevention, and conducted formal evaluation of Hudson County Superior Court's Juvenile Drug Court Program, the first such program in New Jersey. Prior to joining New Jersey City University, Dr. Andes served as Director of Alchol & Drug Treatment for almost 10 years at The Bridge. A native of the Phillippines, he received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration degrees from Rutgers University, and the Master and Doctor of Social Work Degrees from Yeshiva University. He is a licensed clinical social worker.
